Overview

Users receive one-half hour of on-line training prior to operating globalEDI Internet.

  • globalEDI Internet receives EDI transactions (or flat files) and converts them into HTML forms or receives an HTML form and converts it into an EDI file (or flat file) to be transmitted via a VAN (if required) or via FTP
  • supports all transaction sets and all recognized standards
  • all work by clients is done directly on the server
  • all files are saved on the server. Internet clients do not store anything on their computers except the web browser (and any files they specifically request)
  • files are available for export into applications
  • Internet clients manage all EDI transactions through their web browser interface
  • compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer (MS IE) 4.x or higher and Netscape 4.x or higher

Operation

  • Internet clients access the Internet through their regular Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • Using their browser, they connect to the globalEDI Internet WEB site
  • An introductory page allows users to click on the hyperlink that takes them into the globalEDI Internet application
  • Users must then must enter their user name and password
  • globalEDI Internet receives the user’s input (user name and password) and compares it to existing clients in the database. If a match is found, the user accesses only those pages (Trading Partners and Transaction Sets) which correspond to their profile
  • The users view the transactions addressed to them and create the appropriate responses (e.g. receive a Purchase Order, create an Invoice, receive a Payment Order) from HTML forms
  • Functional Acknowledgments are generated automatically upon receipt of the transaction
  • A backup function in globalEDI Internet allows regular backups of the archive directories to ensure their security
  • At all times, clients are able to view previous transactions
  • The information from the transactions is presented on screen in a format ready for printing
